Park Fun!

I love the park and lucky for me, our new home has one so close we can walk to it! (Which we do at least twice a day!) I especially love it when Mama goes down the slide with me. And now that Zekey is bigger he wants to go too. We usually take turns riding on Mama's lap but sometimes we all go down together. These slides are really fast too. If we're not careful we fly off the end and all fall down together...which is also another fun thing to do!

Mom prefers going to the park when Daddy comes home and I have to admit, that is super fun because then we get to ride on Daddy's lap too!

All Aboard!

Earlier this week Mama took Zekey and me to story time at the library and we listened to books about trains. How did they know I love trains! Too bad I don't remember riding them in Hong Kong. Mom says we rode on a train every day when we lived there! Well, after story time I got to play with some fun puzzles while mom chose some books for us to check out. She found some trains ones and coolest of all she found one about a wishing tree which happens to be THE wishing tree in the village where I used to live in Hong Kong! It's a little lengthy so it's not my favorite but my parents thought it was pretty cool. After my nap I was still thinking trains so we made our very own train in my room and I wore my great-grandpa's engineer hat!

Everything was going great, I picked up a passenger and then suddenly the train tipped over! Oops, we lost one! Sorry Zekey!

32 months!

Late again...mom says my next month birthday will be on time...I'll believe it when I see it!
Believe it or not I do have eyes behind this cheesy smile.
I've been up to a lot this last month. My new favorite activity is acting like a nine month old. I figure it gets Zekey a lot of attention so why not try it. I can crawl around and sniff with the best of them and love having mom and dad hold my hands to help me walk.
Even though I may have regressed in some areas I really am a big boy now. I no longer need a diaper! Except for nap time and bed time, but I don't think that really counts. I get to wear big boy unders! My favorites are Thomas the Train. It's fun walking around the house in underwear with Dad. In other news I am trying to encourage mom and dad to have another baby. I tell them if it is a boy we can name him Ezekiel James, and if it is a girl we will name her Susan. If they work so well the first time, why not try them again. When they ask why not another Jonah, I tell them that we already have a Jonah! You can't mess with perfection.

Fun at the Fair!

The fair came to town! And this past weekend my Papa took me there. First we went in the barns and looked at all the animals. Then we found the rides! Mom and I rode some elephants first. They went around in a circle and up and down...that was the last ride my mom rode with me (she gets a little motion sick).
Then Papa and I rode the merry-go-round! That was lots of fun and I made sure to wave and give mom a big cheesy grin every time we went around.
I even rode a couple rides by myself! First a big car then a motorcycle! I went so fast!
My favorite was the big fun slide. We got to sit on a burlap sack and boy did that make us go fast! I wanted to do go down again and again. Even mom enjoyed this one.

I wanted to go on all the rides but I wasn't quite tall enough for some of them...maybe next year!
After all that fun I was hungry! I had a hot dog and some ice cream. It doesn't get much better than that.

Of course I was pretty tired afterwards so Papa had to give me a piggy back ride all the way back to the car. Thanks for the fun day!

"Sorry, I gotta go to work."

CONVERSATION WITH A 2 YEAR OLD:

(After I pack my own lunch, grab a few odds and ends like my monkey, a plastic lamb, a little people person, my plastic keys, my cell phone and put on my own shoes...look closely... I'm ready for my day.)

JONAH: "Okay guys, I gotta go to work now."
MOM and DAD: "Jonah, you can't go to work now."
JONAH: "Sorry I need to."
MOM and DAD: "Sweetie, you can't go to work by yourself."
JONAH: (sigh and head towards the door) "Sorry guys, I have to go to work now. I'll drive Pop's car. I'll come back on Sunday and play with you all day for two days. How does that sound?"
MOM and DAD: "Well Jonah that does sound nice but you still can't go to work by yourself."
JONAH: "It's okay, you can wait for me to get back from work. I'll go in the elevator and push the button and everything. How does that sound?"
MOM and DAD: "It sounds like a nice plan but I don't think you are hearing us. You can't go to work by yourself."

Ever since Dad started work again, this is our morning conversation... a guy's gotta work you know! I'm ready to start carrying my own weight around here! (Well, some of it at least!) All of this has prompted mom to go buy a childproof lock to put on our front door so I can't get out. I've mastered unlocking the door already and although I haven't actually tried to leave they don't want to take any chances. When mom is feeding Zeke I am left unattended for a few minutes so I can't blame her I guess. Sometimes I pretend to go to work when we're actually just going on a walk and sometimes I do get to go to Daddy's school and run around. I'm pretty sure that's all he does there, just run up and down the halls. So the real question is: who doesn't want to go to work?

My current favorite song is "Father Abraham". Here I am showcasing my musical talents! Enjoy the show!

31 months (a little late...)

Better late than never. I had to hurry and get this one posted before I turn 32 months! Quite frankly I don't think my "months" are as important as Ezekiel's. And it's not like I tell people I am 31 months old. I just tell them I'm 2!
The big news around here is that we moved! While we were in Washington we put our house up for sale and when we came back someone bought it! Now we have a new home and the best part is that it comes with a cool elevator! If it weren't for that I would want to go back to my old home but for now that is keeping me happy. Plus my bed and all my toys came with me so it still feels sort of like home. We also have a cool little park and a pool that we'll have to try out soon.
Dad is back at work so Mama, Zekey and I just play all day. He crawls after me everywhere I go and he loves to stand up. I am trying my best to be a nice big brother but every time Zeke plays with a toy I have a sudden urge to play with it myself. If mom is not looking I just grab it but if she is looking that doesn't work so well. Usually I can offer him another toy and that distracts him just long enough for me to get the one I want. It's a pretty good system. One of our favorite things to do together is go in my room, make it really dark and watch a movie (a Pooh Bear lullaby light thing...compliments of Sharon and Jake). I love to say, "Come and enjoy the movie!"
And as for my last post about potty time, I'm doing great! I'll spare you the details but let's just say I've gotten a spoon full of ice cream every single day since then!
